‘Poppy’ the Australian Pelican is flapping-happy to show off her gorgeous wings and jazzy dance moves!

Painting Poppy the Australian Pelican was such a wonderful challenge – I was drawn to its enormous wingspan, soft feathered textures and that iconic bill,! I was completely taken by the giant (yet hilariously awkward) grace and enormous wings that seem to stretch out forever. Using intricate ink strokes, I explored the texture of its feathers – arge, windblown and full of movement and the loose watercolour washes bring out its subtle and soft colouring.
