My story so far & where it all began...

Hey there! My name is Shannon and I'm an Australian artist with a passion for Australian Wildlife.
Through my art, I hope to shine a light on Australia's phenomenal array of wildlife and the dire need to drastically change current environmental laws to protect its wild spaces and the species that inhabit it.

Art has played a huge role in my life, right from my youth, spending all my ‘free time’ drawing and painting (much to my mother's irritation as it also always meant mess).

Creativity seems to be something that I genuinely 'need' in my life... as I'm incapable of ignoring my unconcious drive to create!

Art took a MASSIVE back-seat when my husband and I decided to create two delicious kiddos; Willow and Harry which put a whole new perspective on what 'next-level crazy' is!

Thankfully we both think they're worth it but, as a parent you learn quickly that for your own sanity (and everyone's around you) you need to prioritise some semblance of 'me' time...

And so, boom, 'art time' was back in my life!

Thankfully, 'crazy' is something creatives like me seem to feed-off! So, along with becoming a mother and being both a graphic designer and ‘continual artist’, life is just one big rollercoaster of all-things-creative and constant sources of inspiration!

Having dabbled in all styles of art, both digitally and ‘traditionally’ throughout my life (starting my 1st creative career as a Graphic Designer and Art Director for 10+ years), my subject-matter and art-medium has changed over time – always learning and building my repertoire and experience.

Adding to this, I have an equally obsessive love for David Attenborough/Wildlife documentaries which has partly fuelled my need to travel as much of the globe as possible, developing a strong connection to our beautiful world and its gorgeous wildlife!

I work mostly with watercolour and a 'dip pen' and ink these days.

I love drawing with the traditional 'dip pen' and 'drippy' inks, it allows for such wonderful variation of line and movement. My relaxed drawing style, coupled with the dip pen, creates a less structured or 'perfect' artwork, allowing me to have fun with the 'happy accidents' that come with working with ink!

Combining the ink work and the lovely 'movement' of watercolour and how loose it can be, helps create depth, a pop of colour and wonderful (sometimes unpredictable) results as it dries!

Since having hit-the-ground-running with my art again, I've somehow stumbled into an art style built up mostly of patterns, haphazard ink strokes and splatters of paint that form, for the most part, some of my favourite Australian wildlife.

I hope, if nothing else, my art can bring a smile to your face.
