There’s something truly magical about the intense crimson of the Crimson Rosella! All those rich reds, deep blues combined with the intoxicating feather patterns. Of all the Australian rosellas, the Crimson has always seemed to me to have a more gentle side, looking a little more demure... whilst retaining an undercurrent of sass and cheek!

This piece is an absolute colour-pop dreamboat that I can confirm your walls will thank you for!

This artwork has been hand painted with professional-grade watercolour paint and detailed with a traditional nib and highly concentrated ink on 300gsm 100% cotton watercolour paper. See more details below.

About the Crimson Rosella:
The Crimson Rosella is one of Australia’s most strikingly beautiful parrots, instantly recognisable by its vivid plumage. Found along the eastern and southeastern forests, woodlands and even suburban gardens of Australia, these birds are highly adaptable and often seen foraging in pairs or small groups. Growing to roughly 36cm, they have a melodious, bell-like call. Their diet consists of seeds, fruits, berries, flowers, nectar and insects, making them important for seed dispersal and pollination. Interestingly, juvenile Crimsons look completely different from the adults, sporting a mix of green and dull red feathers, which gradually transition into their brilliant crimson as they mature. These intelligent birds are known for their curious and playful nature, sometimes even mimicking sounds. A quirky fact about them is that they can be quite picky eaters, often discarding certain seeds or husking them in a precise manner. Sadly, habitat loss and competition from introduced species pose ongoing challenges to the Crimsons, making conservation efforts to protect native forests and woodlands essential for their long-term survival. Conservation Status: Least Concern.
