Leichhardt Wildlife Drawing Class with Shannon Dwyer

New Wednesday Wildlife Drawing Classes Leichhardt | Shannon Dwyer Artist

I'll be honest - saying no to people who want to join the drawing classes is one of my least favourite things. And I've been doing a lot of it this year. The Monday sessions have been booked out since January, with re-enrollment sitting at 100% basically every single term. Which is absolutely wonderful and I'm so grateful - but it also means there's a growing list of people I've had to turn away, and that does not sit well with me.

So I did what any person with a creative brain and a strong aversion to FOMO does. I opened Wednesdays.

Two sessions. Same vibe. Same wildlife. New day - and spots are open right now.

Starting 22 July, I'll be running Wildlife Drawing Classes every Wednesday in Leichhardt - an afternoon session and an evening session, so you can pick whichever fits your life best. Five weeks, small group, zero experience needed.

But here's what I really want you to know - because I think it gets lost when people imagine a "drawing class."

It's not just you and a pencil. It's a room full of like-minded creatives - people who've been quietly wanting an outlet, or who used to make things and somehow stopped, or who just need somewhere to be for two and a half hours that isn't their couch or their desk. There's laughter. There's the kind of focused quiet that you genuinely can't manufacture anywhere else. There are moments where someone looks up from their page and can't quite believe what they just made. And there are other moments where everyone's deep in their own little world and the room just hums.

A room full of like-minded creatives - and two and a half hours that are entirely, unapologetically yours.

We mostly draw Australian wildlife - obviously, it's kind of my thing - but I throw in some surprises too. Non-Australian animals turn up occasionally, just to keep things interesting and push everyone a little. A new subject, a new challenge, a new favourite piece you didn't see coming.

The classes are for all skill levels. Complete beginners sit next to people who've been drawing for years, and somehow it works every single time. I walk everyone through the whole process step by step - no judgement, no pressure, just the work and the wildlife and the people.

🎨 Want to see what actually happens in class? There's a reel on Instagram that shows it far better than I can describe - go have a look and then come straight back here to book. I'll wait.

People keep coming back - 100% re-enrollment every term - not just for what they create, but for how they feel while they're there. Phones down. Brain quiet. Just you, a pencil, some wildlife deliciousness, and a room full of people who completely get it.

If Mondays are the only day that works for you, you can still apply for the waitlist, email me info@shannondwyer.art. I'll always try to find a way.

But if Wednesdays work? Don't wait. These will fill up.
